RE: Really a differnce?
It sounds like ya'll are talking about me being a total 1/8 buggy newbie.
Hello 1st time here and want to say hi. For years all my interest has been in large RC helis and planes.
I always heard ya broke expensive parts weekly at the track, and these cars were too powerful on the street so why bother on surface RC? So I always bought heli gear instead.
Recently my Father-law picked up a 1/8 GS (storm?) buggy/w Futaba 3PB magnum PCM radio <-(either of these any good??) at the local flea market when someone didnt pay their storage bill . We paid 35$.
It must have been raced because it came with 300$ + in NIP extra parts with dealer price tags . It looks complete and the new LHS guys says it might be worth getting running, bring it to the track.
A local racer said he has a GS (Storm?) roller (with servos no eng) in a trade that he'd sell for 50$....So her I am without even trying, up to my eyes in GS parts for less then 100$.
The flea has been very good to me. A year ago we found a Tmaxx 2.5 complete with a crap eng for 20$. I put a new OS 18 motor in..... Guys at the LHS sold me a Futaba 3PK to work with my 2.4g XPS module from my helis... We have been runnin the piss out of this poor truck!! The wife just LOVES this old Tmaxx! (she isnt as scared to crash as she is with the aircraft).
I showed her a few youtube vids of 1/8 racing and we are pumped! Anyone else race with their wives??
We are ready to join a track, it looks like so much fun! We dont care if we win with our flea market specials. I think our gear will be good to us being what it is to get us rolling.
Is 1/8 too much speed for rank newbies??
LHS says we need a 300$ OS 21 motor to race (this GS motor might be crapped out). I about choked! better prices out there??
Thanks ya'll seem like a great crew of folks.
