RE: ENGINE SEALANT
Imagine that, more assumptions about me being a newb and so on. Thank you for the entertainment.
Bottom line is this. Some guy comes on here and says silicone RTV will dissolve in nitro fuel and backs it up with nothing more than the statement "I know I'm right". That doesn't cut it, and that's why he was called out. Then he says maybe the RTV in my area is different (haha, good one). Then he posts pictures of ported/polished engine parts as if that somehow proves that RTV will dissolve in nitro fuel. Next he wants to discuss my racing experience as well as the vehicles I run. Again, I don't see how that relates to the subject at hand. It's all just a bunch of side stepping and I find it incredibly amusing.
After all of this side stepping of the issue and that "I'm right" arrogance, it appears he may have been wrong. I'm on day 2 of my test....RTV soaking in both pure methanol and pure nitromethane, and on day 4 of soaking RTV in nitro fuel. So far none of them smear on paper and are just as firm as a control sample of RTV I have that isn't exposed to any solvent. They don't appear to have undergone any physical change whatsoever.
These tests will be videotaped and posted online. I am currently learning how to rip DVD video onto my computer and format it so it can be uploaded to youtube....have never done that but will figure it out shortly. I will post links when it's up.
Again, I appreciate the entertainment.
