Default RE: ENGINE SEALANT

Supertib.... you need to calm down and think about what your posting before you post and how it'll look. No one attacked your knowledge.... they just asked for proof which has yet to be provided either way. I will go ahead and say that when it comes to filling a crank I would not use rtv... but thats not what we're talking about here. Adheasion and breaking apart are 2 different things. I too have used rtv with no problems on the carb, backplate, and boot. I seriously doubt that the rtv will breakdown... maybe won't stick to something as well but not breakdown. Red rtv is not made for oil.... it's made for exhaust gaskets in the auto industry. Since theres oil in R/C fuel then it's gonna won't to fall off what ever it should stick to... it does stick but maybe not as well; that doesn't mean it makes a bad sealer. A bad crank filler, yes but sealer, no. I have pulled my motor apart after I sealed it and ran a couple gallons through it and rtv was still tacky (i.e stuck to the parts)

We'll see what the results are but thats my guess.

Do you have a link to the test the engine builders did for the mag? I remember you saying there was one done.
