Supertib.... you need to calm down and think about what your posting before you post and how it'll look. No one attacked your knowledge.... they just asked for proof which has yet to be provided either way. I will go ahead and say that when it comes to filling a crank I would not use rtv... but thats not what we're talking about here. Adheasion and breaking apart are 2 different things. I too have used rtv with no problems on the carb, backplate, and boot. I seriously doubt that the rtv will breakdown... maybe won't stick to something as well but not breakdown. Red rtv is not made for oil.... it's made for exhaust gaskets in the auto industry. Since theres oil in R/C fuel then it's gonna won't to fall off what ever it should stick to... it does stick but maybe not as well; that doesn't mean it makes a bad sealer. A bad crank filler, yes but sealer, no. I have pulled my motor apart after I sealed it and ran a couple gallons through it and rtv was still tacky (i.e stuck to the parts)

We'll see what the results are but thats my guess.

Do you have a link to the test the engine builders did for the mag? I remember you saying there was one done.

I have already stated RTV will work, but it will not sustain itself in contact with nitro as it is not Nitro proof..... All I ever said is that even tho RTV may work , it is not truly nitro proof and that people should consider 1211 instead as it is actually nitro proof......i never said RTV wont work, I have even admitted I have used it myself....

Not all RTV is the same, I have only tested copper RTV, not the blue stuff these guys are talking about...I have no clue what the differences are, but copper RTV softens in nitro .... As I say they sell copper RTV here, I have never seen this blue RTV that is being discussed....

If RTV is actually nitro proof ( which it is NOT) it would be perfectly safe for submersion and using as a crank filler... I already acknowledged RTV may work for sealing, as it is mildly resistant to Nitro...these guys weren't happy with that and are saying it is 100% nitro proof..... if it is 100% nitro proof then it will work as a filler and withstand unlimited submersion......... Remember I already said these points !

As for a test, it takes time to fully cure RTV (48 hours)and several days to soak it... this argument hasnt gone on long enough to complete the test, so what else can I do to prove this..I already said people will have to wait for the results of the 3rd person test.....

In short what I said all along is this...RTV may work for sealing, but its not truly nitro proof and its seal will fail if there is extended direct exposure to nitro...So instead of using a product that is half assed, why not just start with a product that is 100% nitro proof to begin with... I dont care how good RTV is, 1211 is much better....why settle for less when you can have the best....

so now I dont want to hear how this isn't a fair test, as i already acknowledged RTV will work, I just said it is not nitro proof...if it is nitro proof like 1211 it will work as a crank filler and withstand total submersion..... you can't have it both ways, it is either nitro proof or it isn't....if its nitro proof then these tests will not affect it......You can repair a floatbowl in a carb using 1211, i would like to see someone use RTV for that ( manufacturer even has on package it is not )...just like i said from square 1..it may work for sealing, but its not really fuel proof...all i was doing is trying to guide people to a better product............ You guys are going to see i have been 100% correct the entire time, so prepare to eat some humble pie !@
