There are many many many planes that will do the same thing if the engine quits on takeoff. if you don't have speed, you sink. Any 540 kit would probably do the same thing.

Moral of the story, make sure your engine is running right before you take off and you won't have a problem. If you are not ready for that type of plane, build something else and build that one later.
