Default RE: Duralite Batteries (Buyers Beware)

Hi Jim,

I have always tried to stick to strict principles on my side and be as fair as I can be and yes maybe I have failed sometimes but I have tried within my ability. For example when I got involved with Wayne Ulery and Quique Somenzini my very first condition was that if I feel someone deserves say a canopy/cowl/wing/part replacement I should have the ability to do so and they will support me. From the time I took over QQAC support forum, I did the best I could to help everyone but you guys should also understand that I am not the owner(s) and I do not know the history of many years ago nor I would like to know as much and interfere too much with others business but I will have to say this, I have never had any problems with any batteries that I purchased or received from Duralite and God knows this is a true statement! Plus I have never hid a dangerous situation from anyone. In fact I am one of the guys that support the Li-Mn cells not only because they are extremely good cells but they are non-flammable! I can take a picture of a pack that was in a mid-air a year ago. It is severely damaged but still after one year, it holds the same capacity! I am not using it in a plane but have kept it around to show it off as I was very impressed!

I am mostly here on these forums to help with technical questions in the areas that I can be of any help or have the knowledge. I have helped Duralite PB products and have done lots of battery testings in the last 2 years for them. I have never had any issues to warn anyone.

I really don't know about Cameron's incident but I am truly sorry to hear and see what it is said here and I have mentioned this to him personally in an email.

Hope you guys understand that my major role is to support people in the hobby and I am not running anyone's business for them nor I am an employee of any company hobby related that I represent!
I do have sponsors and I have politely rejected some sponsorship offers mainly because I did not feel they have the best interest of the customers in mind but to me in my last 3 years of experience with Duralite, they have done the best they can to support their customers. When they can't answer a question on a product, they will send me an email or call me to support the customer. They answer their phone calls 5 days a week and they deliver and support what they sell.

I also would like to say that our hobby technological wise has advanced in engineering and sophistication and most of the time, we as users make mistakes in the operation part. Yes, product can be defective as well but most of the time we all have little problems when technology is first introduced! Charging an A123 cell when many chargers were not capable of 3 years ago (if your charger is that old) can be confusing! Most of the time we feel intimidated to ask or assume we know the answer and that contribute to the problem as well! I have never liked "your fault attitude" and always tried not to make one feel like that but sometimes it is the truth and we need to accept it and move on! In this case the customer has admitted that he did not charge them properly plus the fact it is over a year since they are sold, what do you really think any company would do for you? We all need to be realistic here! This thread was not about Cameron nor I have made any comments on Cameron's case or do I have any knowledge beyond this thread on his case but I did present the facts as they stand about the subject in hand and I do not know anything more or hiding anything from you guys!

I always felt I am more attached to the customers and people in the hobby than actually the companies I represent! I mean I always tend to get your side of story and give everyone the benefit of doubt! I have done this many times but I am sorry if anyone feels otherwise!

I really don't have much more to contribute to this thread. If you don't mind I am signing out!

Regards,
Reza

I don't see where anyone has stated that this quote is false or even questionable.

Do you still wish to defend them?????

So here we go.... Reza - I believe I speak for many people who have read your posts both here and on FG. I use you as a direct example because your writing has always comes across with integrity and fairness. The people involved with Duralite had a strategy to ''hush'' product problems. The professional pilots that experienced product problems (fires) and kept it quite, in retrospect, did a tremendous disservice to the R/C community. I think someone like yourself who does come across with such integrity and sincerity should really consider who you ''rep'' for.

Thanks,
Jim Woodward
