Default RE: My choice for first plane

well there are a few things going here. ya wanna fly but don't really have the resources to do so. I have allot of rc stuff but I've been doing this hobby on and off for 18 yrs, at 1-2 models a yr you just accumulate stuff. I have a few freinds in south Africa that are into the hobby and the only way they keep there costs within a reasonable range is to team up and order parts, planes, radios, battery's, wood and fuel direct from china. they know what they need and what it takes to get a model going as do most who have built a couple kits and has learned to fly. Someone starting out isn't going to know all the nuts and bolts needed to get a model going and there is way to much to learn to even attempt to lay it out. I've been to brazil but wasn't there long enough to know were to procure rc equipment, I did find a good lycombing shop for real planes.

Your best bet is to hold off on getting anything, find out when that clubs next meeting is and attend it, head out to the club for a couple weekends and see if anyone has used trainers for sale and ask them were they order their stuff from. If they are anything like the clubs out here they become tight nit groups that know were anything rc related is within 100 miles. When I finally hit up the club in my area I found out about 4 other flying sights, 5 local suppliers, local doctor supplies us with the best CA I've ever seen. several mom and pop shops on the internet to get stuff. Like servo city.com [link=http://www.valuehobby.com/products.php?category_id=1]value hobby[/link] t and j hobby, b and p for starters, these guy are all over our country but again your shippping cost doesn't help so your going to have to get with people from your area and find out were to get stuff
