Exclusive Interview of Dave Brown!!

An exclusive interview of pattern icon, former AMA President and model airplane ambassador Dave Brown will be featured in my September newsletter. This will NOT be in any national magazines or internet community site and is ONLY available by request via RCU (PM) or e-mail. There is no cost or fee to receive the newsletter containing information about Classic Pattern.

Sneek Peek:

Dave Brown speaking about his early days of R/C...

"...I actually taught myself to fly using a Digitrol 4 channel radio I built in the mid-60's. Initially I was interested in sport flying and shortly after I had learned to fly, the Service sent me to Germany for a couple of years. I started flying in contests which offered two classes consisting of a beginner or basic class and the class I chose to fly, FAI. The second year I won the German State Championships for which I received a certificate...a very special treasure I still possess."

"...in 1970 I flew in my first AMA Nationals, my third contest in the US and placed First in Class D Novice flying a Bar-Fli. The Bar-Fli was designed by Phil Kraft was quite small, had a slab sided fuselage, powered by an Enya .60 and was specifically created as a "wind" airplane."

"...as an adult, I have lived in basically (2) houses and these houses have had four US World Championship Team members living in them. Mark Radcliff (who I hired to work at World Engines) Tony Frakowiak (a young pilot I discovered who also began working at World Engines), Qui Que Somenzini and myself. I believe I met Qui Que and his parents at the 1981 World Championships(?)...Qui Que arrived at our home in the Fall of the following year..."

The interview is being conducted over a series of telephone conversations, e-mail and if logistics work...a meeting at the EAA "Air Venture" later this month in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

One of my newsletter subscribers suggested I invite questions be submitted...Ok...ask Dave and Sally Brown a question! Send me a RCU (PM) e-mail ([email protected]) and I will ask it.

The newsletter will be available in late September 2009.
