Sorry to hear about your unsuccessful maiden. Here's a couple of things you could have done to avoid the wreck. First, since this is such a common plane, you could have asked what throws and CG the guys on the forum were using and what kind of response from the plane that gave them. That would have avoided getting your controls too hot. Second, get an experienced pilot to maiden new airplanes for you until you're a good enough pilot to have others asking you to maiden their planes for them. Third, ask an instructor to buddy box with you on your first flight (or at least be ready to take the transmitter from you) in case the plane is too much for you to handle. Obviously, this doesn't do you much good now but it can help in the future. The biggest mistake new pilots make is not in airplane setup or equipment purchases. It is in not asking for help. It's doubtful that you'll ever do anything in this hobby that multiple people haven't already done before. Ask for help and succeed.
