My own experience relates fondly to the Expert radio.... It was the first full-house system I ever had or even saw that worked flawlessly. I was a 17 year old working at House of Hobbies in Tulsa and my boss (Bill Knost) let me pay it out in 8 weeks of partial paychecks........... I think I gave 225.00 for it (5 channel) and it gave me some real happy memories and a solid RC experience. The radio that works is always the best, but many of us in Tulsa (1976) were flying these. and they were solid in this area. Sorry to hear the guy that had problems...I loved the feel of open gimbaled sticks on that radio too. (Memories are sweet )
From what I heard back in that time period, my radio was a bit unusual in regards to having problems. I would take it out to the club field, fly a couple of times, and the next time I turn it on, no control response, just jittering servos. Off to Cincinatti, another RX replacement. My parents bought me a Futaba G Series AM 7 Channel system for my graduation present from university... never had a radio related failure after that. I do miss those gimbals! Nothing compares to them today.
