8mm is fine for my site, you will have to experiment to see how much you need for your angle of approuch, if you have to come in over high trees you may need more, the whole thing was derived because of running out of runway as described by your previous owner, it will just float on and on and on, this is an old airframe now and the newest ones are more refined as explaind to you above about the Angel.

And yes still plenty of aileron authority with the ailerons reflexed up by 8mm.

The 61 will help to get the C of G back where it should be and will also help the weight which is on of the issues that causes the high speed landing and float on.
