Default RE: DRIFT RACING

a race is defined as a competition of speed over time, which has places assigned first, second, and third which are based solely on time.

The two main governing bodies for professional drift events are D1 and FD. The format of these events are you must qualify solo being judged on Angle ,Clipping points, style, and speed of drift. Then you must drift in against another car, with one car leading one lap and the switching on the next. You are judged on Angle ,Clipping points , style, closeness to the lead car. The driver with the higher score moves on to the next round.

RC drifting is based on the real drift events as described above and are judged by the same guidelines.

So the act of drifting on race track does not make it “drift racing”.

Drifting has and always will be about style and not lap times, there for drifting events, meets, and tandem battles should not be miss labeled as “Drift racing”
The only way drifting could be called drift racing was if you based the points system on how fast you could make around the track while drifting and not on style. But then how could this be drifting as we all know drifting is not the fastest way to get around a track this would be closer to Gymkhana and or Time Attack/ Auto cross.

They don't normally base it all off first place right? Don't you get judged by speed, angels, apexs and excitement? I think its more art then race.
