I live in Wichita, and do not recall any road closings for airplanes, save for the occasional parade or museum piece being moved.
But Wichita is a fun place to live if you enjoy airplanes. Lots of manufacturers, if you keep a sharp eye out you can see them testing new planes.
And also a very happening place for RC. 4 hobby shops, 4 flying fields, and several clubs.
