Well I flew a successful maiden flight today. The Extra flew very well and was nicely balanced. Only needed two clicks of up elevator, everything else was in trim! The landing was ok - i cut the idle down too much so that the motor died 30 feet out but fortunately I was high enough. There were a lot of people at the field this morning, so I decided to just fly the one time. I need to get out there early next weekend and fly before others arrive so I can hear the engine and figure out landing speed. The plane is a fair bit less powerful than my Aresti which has the YS 63 in it, but then I have a lot of trouble landing that plane at times because it is fast. I have a OS 46ax with a 10x7 in the Extra - may try and 11x6 to give it a bit more climb and land slower. Also, I got the SSE kit down from the shelf tonight. If I build that and put the 46 in it then I could get a 55 for the Extra!
