Well, I don't consider myself an Old Fart, yet (my oldest is a senior in H.S), but I'm not as young as I look either . I'm probably in the minority in my generation, but I think the whole Twittering thing is ridiculous. People spend more time typing words onto tiny screens than it would actually take to call someone and talk to them personally. Blogging, on the otherhand, isn't so irrelevant. I've blogged a few times here on my Profile page. They're pretty boring. Just little glimpses into my thoughts about what I'm doing, or want to be doing. To me, it's just another way to get to know some of the people we interact with here on the forums, but never get the chance to meet face to face.
I think a lot of it boils down to how self centered people seem to have become. There's nothing wrong with a blog used to share a hobby or passion, but you shouldn't feel the need to notify everybody of what you're doing every waking moment of the day as if it's somehow relevant to the world. I'm a young guy (twenty-something) and really don't understand the extreme use of it either.
