I've flown TD 09's a lot in control line stunt airplanes. They run just fine on Sig Chanpion 10% nitro, 20% oil half castor/half synthetic. I have always run them on backplate pressure and used the stock NVA (Have a KK assembly which I cannot find[]). Give a head prime and hit the prop forward with your gloved finger. It does sound like you have a fuel feed problem.
