where in the peg do you drill a small hole? The peg is formed when you join the two wing halves together with epoxy. If you drill right down the center of the peg, you'll weaken the epoxy used to join the wing halves.
The epoxy holds the wings together, it adds very little, if any, to the shear strength of the tang. I've used the nail several times, it works. If you haven't glued the wing halfs together yet, I'd lay in a layer of glass or Carbon Fiber that makes it supper strong.
