Default RE: Hitec mini Hs-5085 mg for elevator

astropuppy,

You can use the 5245's on everything except rudder. You can actually use the HS-5625 for rudder, it's cheaper, fast and has more than enough power for the sportsman program and up to Advanced. You will need more rudder power if you start doing rolling loops and rolling circles. You can also use the HS-225MG on six volts for elevator,..not digital, but it works great. I ran them in my PL Partner for 2 years with out any problems flying FAI with them. Just read the literature that comes with the servo and program accordingly,..you won't be unhappy with the results.

I have used all the brands out there for pattern and 40% IMAC planes. They all work great, some wear more than others depending on what you use them for. I use all Hitecs in my big planes and have since Hitec released the digital line. If you are on a budget the Hitec's are perfect,..because they are cheaper dosen't mean in this case they are inferior by any means.

My last suggestion is,..use what most your fellow pattern pilots are using at your field in the brand of radio you fly with. In the event you need a spare servo or servo arm etc, you may be able to borrow one in an emergency. I will say, stay away from the HS-77BB low profile analog servo on 6.volts,..burned mine up in 20 flights,..ok on 4.8.
