Question, I am flying at a private field, so I do not see many other types of gas, or motors. I use Omega 10%, the other guys use cool power 15%. I notice that their planes have less oil every where compared to mine, I think I have the thing tuned in right, but I may be rich on the carb needle, is that correct? (I have no problem with idle or rev issues after idling for long periods the motors just leap to life)
This is for Jester: (or others that have comments)
Is your plane messy when you are done after 2-3 fights in one day?
Also Jester, my group of guys is looking into making our own fuel, what oils, and mixture rates do you use? Just dipping my feet in the water here. My cousin can get his hands on the harder to find stuff as he works for a chemical distribution company. So getting my hands on hard to get stuff will not be a problem.
Sounds like you are running a Saito!!

Just had to say that, my bad!! I run the Power Master 15% that has 18% blended oil. I don't know the Castor content?? Anyone?? I run the big three of engines, OS, YS and Saito. The OS and YS powered planes are very clean. I call the Saitos the snot machines!!
My local Hobby People sells the Castor Oil in quarts and you can find the Nitro and Alcohol in most good speed shops. Most the people I know brewing there own don't get any real good savings until they blend over 15 gallons at a time. I wanted to do it this year but couldn't find enough guys to go in on it with me. Most of us wait for sales at Hobby People and stock up then. My old club bought fuel by the pallet and sold it in case lots for some great savings.
Fact is the fuel manufactures do such a good job I'm not sure you could buy a bad one. I check up on all my LHS and wait for the sales but Hobby People here has a pretty good sale every couple of months.
