The range of a rc system cannot be given in meters or yards. Or better : it can be given, but it would be rather meaningless because the range varies greatly and depends on multiple conditions. In ideal conditions the range can be multiple times more then in unideal conditions. Solar activity, humidity of the air, position of the antenna, sort of antenna, objects between the receiver and tranmitter antenna, other transmitters in the area (cellphones, wireless networks, microwave ovens), distance to the ground of both transmitter and receiver antenna, they all influence range.

In general though, let's say the range should be in the 1-3 km ballpark in average circumstances.
