Default RE: Starting a Quadra 35 with no choke

I hava a Quadra 40 with no choke. If you can get to the carb, put your hand over the carb and turn the prop til your hand gets gas on it. Mine likes to be really wet. Then turn on the mag and pull the prop backwards about 2/3 of a revolution or so and then let it go. Too far will break the clutch bearing on the spring starter. If you primed it correctly, it will fire when the mixture gets right. Also set the mag gap as close to the flywheel as you can without rubbing. I used a piece of writing paper for a gauge. My engine has a solid state mag instead of points. A magneto ignition has to be turning fast enough to generate voltage for the spark. If no spring starter, then it will have be spun by a starter. Mine starts well. My Fuji has a magneto and hand starts well, but Fuji put another magnet and a timing module on it to make it work.
