I'll be flying from a nicely paved runway, so I'm hoping the ground behavior wouldn't suffer. The amount that I'd be moving the gear out would only be a couple inches which would allow me to have the longer struts tucked inside. It seems to be a relatively common practice for folks with the original US40 & US60 planes, but I haven't seen anyone try it with a US+. Of course once I decide I want to keep or bail on the existing retracts I'll need to dig in and find out how to actually make this alteration to the main gear layout without taking anything away from the wing's rigidity. Oh the joys of being a rookie builder.
