Best Fun Fly plane
Werner,
I cast my vote for the Thunder Tiger P-51 Fun Fly. I've had six of them over the past three years. The fly beautifully, slow, fast, low, high, upside down and sideways. And they're even more fun with a larger engine. I started with a Fox 40, but quickly found something better in the OS.46. Later adding an UltraThrust pipe to the .46 with a 11x4 APC and it's a load of fun!
Strengthen the horz stab by adding 3/4" triangle under the stab next to the fuse or it can get loose and come off at high speed.
Take the wooden dowel elevator push rod out and replace it with two 4-40 rods. Connect the rods together with two wheel collars on the servo end. Cut one of the rods off forward of the collar, and connect the remaining rod to the elev servo. This removes elev flex in the standard set-up and prevents flutter.
The fuse will take a much larger tank for more flight time.
20 oz is possible, but it's tight.
This plane looks good in the air or on the gound. It costs only $115, shipped, from Quantum Models. It will keep you entertained for a long time and is very impressive to watch. You can't go wrong with this great plane.
