RE: Do you hate it when...
i just had an incident at the track today that reminded me of this.
first let me start by saying that the track i race at is within a county park and is used on saturdays for oval racing (we do everything by the books) but everyother day the track is open to the public. anyone can come and play for free. so today i decided to head over and get some practice in since im only racing 2 more time before i leave for basic training and want to make it count. also the area i live in is very snobby, alot of very high-end gated communitys around here and as a result most ppl and their kids are very rude and very ignorant (dont even get me started on that one) so i have to deal with essentialy @$$-h01es most of the day and at work. also note that i hate kids, especialy the ones around here because of the mentioned rudeness
anyway i was running my srt at the track and there were a good dozen or so kids (3 to 13 ish) and parents there and i was the only person driving so the whole time im running all the kids are on the drivers stand and near the track and generaly in my way but ya know what, i didnt mind too much (who doesnt like a little bit of an ego indulgance), i ran my car a little less agresively and told the parents that they should keep an eye on their kids and it was fine, i even let a few run my 1/18th pro pulse and i think i got a few interested. i only had one problem, a kid on the drivers stand was pestering me a bit but his mom took him away so i wasnt too annoyed.
the trick is to work with the system, let them know whats what and just be more aware. i was running my pede like a bat out of heck too but nobody got hurt, nobody got pissed (namely me) and i maybe got a few kids hooked which is always a good thing. i also took time while my cars cooled (very hot day) and answed questions and gave advice.
ive also had my fare share of hard times from my neibors who hate me to begin with and other ppl at the track and my other regular bash spot but i know what to say and if they get hostile i can give them an ear full if i need to
