Default RE: H9/Carden Yak 54

Mine doesn't tip stall at all with proper rudder in.

I did have a phunny thing happen yesterday. I was flying at the Riley County, KS site and the winds were blowing just right to do a proplonged harrier without much if any forward movement. I was about 8 feet off the ground inching towards a huge ditch when the plastic throttle linkage sheared off. [X(][img] Luckily, my throttle stuck so I could continue to harrier. But, I couldn't do anything else. I wasn't sure in the wind I could nose down into the ditch and fly out. After a good minute or two it started to climb a little, then I could nose over and fly out of it and circle around in normal flight. My timer went off and I was afraid I might run out of battery power on the flight controls about the time I ran out of gas ( I had a few flights in already). So, after I got enough altitude and finally got the plane in position I used my servo ignition cutout, killing the engine and making a safe dead stick landing on the runway. But, it was a tenuous last four minutes of the flight.

The wind was blowing from the lower right corner of the photo to the upper left corner and I was over the lower right corner of the short runway moving slowly towards the ditch when the throttle failed. Exciting!

On another note 5 guys were also flying combat that day and in one heat three planes collided and all tumbled to the ground then the remaining two collided and tumbled to the ground, so there were no winners of that heat. What a day.

I am looking forward to flying at the Salina, KS IMAA event this coming weekend.
