Default RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread

Dan

Thank you, it's getting there!
Performance is more than needed (even for power craze Americans I think!) on Grass it will take off in 150ft in calm conditions, 100ft in some wind. Landing is the same! I used half of our 300' strip last weekend without any effort to nail the numbers. The wing is such that take-off distance is less than a P120 Flash (we fly 8 from the same site!) it's weighs a simular amount, but with much more wing. Full of fuel (3.2 ltr) it will climb strongly at 40 degrees from TO, but we are + 300 ft ground level and coolish. I have hundreds of Flash flights (I love it) but the Hawk is a heart breaker on looks and flying. Slowest KE flight I have ever seen with a Jet.
Speed wise I have not flown it full chat sports jet style, it looks so wrong, but in the interest of the design I let a throttle bender pal of mine fly it to see if it held together at VNE and yank! It did!! I guess it was a little slower than a Flash, defo less than a Bandit 120! It's way way too fast for scale, I'm flying 12 minutes and still landing with 750-950ml of fuel! It flies so slowly it's enjoyable doing it!
I would plump P120SX every time with this plane, I have P160SX's sitting there but feel no need at all to fit one. The basic design has won 2 JWM in a row so I'm sure it's good

Hopefully will get a video in it's finished "tweeked" state soon.
