LADIES and GENTLEMEN.... BB's Tu-95 Bear BOMBER has FLOWN again!!! Today with the help of many Bomberfield members, just to mention a few names...Bobby, Doc Jones, Ted C., Randy B, and a few others ... That awesome Silver Red Star Bomber
TAIL #70 was meticulously prepared , tuned, charged, aired up and re-checked,,, then at approx 5:30pm today, under the
skills of Doc Jones and B.B. Weber on the Co-Pilot sticks, ,, she was taxied out, down to the end of the runway, turned into the wind, brakes set, engines revved, cleared, and then brakes released.... as she gained speed down the runway all eyes were on this big silver bird as it was guided down the center of the runway all 23ft of her wingspan started to gain lift and then as carefully as he could,,, Doc eased back on the stick and the Bear was airborne.... all 4 laser engines turning in almost perfect harmony...
The magestic Tu-95 created by BB was once again in the sky where it belonged...
after several great photo passes and fly by's ... B.B. commanded the gear down , ,, DOC flew by for a gear check... all gear locked down... and he came around for base and final, flaps down,,, looking good,,, with a slight crosswind, Doc compensated with a nice crab angle ,,, 20 ft, 15 ft, 10 ft, 5 ft, 2 ft,,, then a nice smooth touch down on the center of the runway....
So perfect.... Doc and BB celebrated... Doc fell to his knees thanking GOD that this flight went so well.... Everyone CHEERED!!!
It is moments like this that make our Hobby so Great... we pull together to make machines take to the skies, and we all get to share in the excitement and joy of success...
-THE BEAR WILL FLY AGAIN during the WEEKEND of the 21st ANNUAL B-17 Gathering... Many More People have arrived... such infamous pilots as "MAD DOG", the CA JUN MAN... and more....
