Anyone else having problem of too high idle speed?

Engine runs very well from 2600 rpm to full throttle. Fantastic performance in my AeroWorks 125.
However, when adjusting Idle down to 1900 rpm (which is a speed that will hold the plane on grass) it will die after
about 3 minutes. Very frustrating as it quits just after making turn to flight line and again after landing.

Have experminented with props from 18x10 to 20x8 and adjusted the low needle for seemingly hours.
In every case, the nice steady idle of around 1900 rpm lasts for only 3 to 4 minutes. Then dies.

Last session, opened the low needle from recommended 1 1/4 turns to over 2 1/4 turns in small increments
with same result. My DLE-55 would go pig rich with that much adjustment. Again, mid range and full throttle
are very good and never dies whilst in the air when doing lots of throttle off IMAC maneuvers.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Larry

Hi Larry

How much running time has the engine had?

The idle on mine improved significantly after about an hours running time.

I have now got over 2 hours flying time ( ~ 15 x 10~12 minute flights) on the engine and idle is good.

Has 19/8 JXF Laminated Wood Prop, no spinner or anything. Everything stock, except NGK plug instead of DLone.

Cheers

Scott
