Default RE: .049 sailplane set up

Sure it will.

One of my first kits I ever had was a Dumas Hi-LO Evolution. The plane was designed to be either a High wing, low wing, T tail, Short wing sport plane, Long wing trainer/ motor glider, Glider, Slope soarer, etc.
Also feastured as seen in the ad was a removeable power pod in case you wanted to go with a normal type glider nose. Also, the wing tips could be made plug in and thus removable so that in time you could remove the wing panels and turn it into a sport plane later.. It was like you bought this one kit and just about anything that was not scale would come out of the box! Too bad they used the same wood they used for their boats!
The Dumas kit used anything from a Cox 049 in the power pod to a .19 engine in the nose.

If I were to do what you want to do I might think about going with a .09 or even a .15 because you will need to add a bunch of ballast if you only use the Cox engine. Might as well put that weight to use as engine power instead of dead weight. Problem with the Cox is that it takes so long to get it to altitude. Some can live with that. The only drawback to using a larger engine is the larger prop has more drag in the glide portion of the flight and uses a bit more fuel per flight.

I have one of the HOB 2X6 in the storage That would be the big brother to yours. Turns out it came with no plans [&o].
