Quick post.
Nice picture taken by Dave Wiltshire from Motors and Rotors.
My Hawk on landing run in.
Shows clearly the new legs i have now fitted.
They work really well, also the nav lights can be seen, more details on these when i get a moment.

If your noseleg is the same Eurokit one that I fitted, I've been finding that the leg travel is too little and the spring too strong. If I bounced a landing the original Eurokit setup made things worse.

The pics show how I've modified the spring and piston arrangement to allow nearly double the travel and soften the action with what is effectively a dual-rate spring. The new piston is 9mm shorter than the original piston, to provide the longer travel. The new stop screw is needed to retain the piston inside the leg. The crummy original method of retaining the piston by letting it graunch against the leg bore always appalled me anyway, and I turned the link rod stem thinner so that it wouldn't catch on the leg bore.

The new setup works much better for me with my 16-17lb EDF Hawk. The washer between the two springs is simply there to prevent them becoming entangled. The upper spring is one I had in my bits box and is noticeably softer than the Eurokit spring. Only 3 landings to date with the new setup, but all were noticeably softer and more easily controlled.
