Default RE: Northern VA Pattern Contest this weekend

Great contest. Definitely the best one I've been involved with. This is largely due to Bill McMullen who ran the lines, and Pat Dunlap with Nick Burhans that did the scoring in a most efficient manner. Larry Kauffman was thanked for his stepping in as D2 NSRCA VP. He had some unfinished business from last year- primarily man of the year award and last year's NSRCA District Championships award. Joey Hayes and Charles Simmons stepped forward for recognition. The contest got underway promptly after the Pilot's meeting. We ran two lines, and since the wind was blowing in about 7 to 10 Saturday morning, I took the suggestion of a fellow D3 flyer- we had the midair avoidance rule. If it looks like you are going to hit another plane, you can bail out of the maneuver and re-fly. This worked. No midairs this weekend. All planes remained in tact.
