IMAC Nats
Hey Hubb - Jenn have that baby yet????
Nats are over with and what a great time had by all. There were 15 in Unlimited, 5 in Advanced, 10 in Intermediate and 11 in sportsman.
For the NC guys, Kurt came in 2nd in Unlimited and I came in 2nd in Sportsman. The complete scores are suppossed to be on the Nats site tomorrow.
It was HOT and HUMID, but no wind to speak of. The unknowns were very well written and flowed nicely. They were not overly difficult, but weren't easy either. K factors were slightly higher than the knowns. Steve Evans, Cathy Evans, Stevie, and Tom Wheeler all deserve a big THANK YOU for the job they did running the contest.
The guy who won sportsman came from California in an A36 Bonanza. He took the seats out of the back and got a 33% Aeroworks Edge 540 and all of his gear in the plane!!!!!!
There were pilots from every region. They came from as far away as California, Arizona, Oregon, Main, Florida, Kansas, and Texas.
John Schroder and part of Team Florida came straight from the world Freestyle Championships. They drove straight through and all looked a little tired the first day.
I had my own sleep deprivation experience. I was practicing on Sunday evening and blew the back of one of my cans out (Pefa's). I had to drive back home to Burlington, KY (3 hrs) - pick up my stock mufflers - and drive back. I got back around 2:00 AM, got up a little after 5:00 AM - modified the plane and had it ready to fly with about 20 minutes to spare.
I hope to have some pics up soon. I will post the link when I am done.
