I didn't know that many MXS-R's were on the circuit this year. Last I knew everybody was flying an Edge.
Yep...I think (I may be wrong here) Maclean was the first last year, and at the time it was a 'custom" modified MX-2. Lamb may have flown one last year as well, not sure. I know Besenyei is new to the fold this year, as is Hall obviously.
Indeed, Matt Hall put the first -R on the podium just a week or so ago in Porto, taking 3rd. That also moves him to 3rd in the overall standings with 1 race left...quite an accomplishment for a rookie pilot and 'rookie" airplane!
I agree the Besenyei Red Bull scheme looks fabulous on the ground, but I have a hard time following the color scheme in some light and sky conditions. Sometimes it is hard to see if the wings are level, etc.
I'd be inclined to agree. I've got the Red Bull 100cc Edge from Tom, and it is a GORGEOUS airplane, but certain attitudes/conditions CAN make it get a little wonky on my eyes. *heh*
Great pictures, thanks for sharing! Did you take those yourself?
Thanks. I did, indeed. Those were all taken at the SD race this year. My first one live, and I must say, even MORE mind blowing than i'd thought it would be. Red Bull does an AMAZING job of bringing coverage to the live event, and also a top notch job with logistics, sight lines, crowd management, the works. I can't say enough good things about the experience, and will ABSOLUTELY make it an annual trek any time they favor the US with a race.
