In the end the simple fact is if it wasnt the AMA that was our voice in national matters, it would have to be someone else. With the proliferation of UAV technology and the use of that technology outside our hobby, we need a voice to continue to do what we do, the way we do it. The AMA is much more than a magazine and suplimental insurance coverage. Like it or not its there to help us with a collective voice. As I stated earlier when clubs grow the AMA grows. Its said there is strength in numbers and I for one believe that statement. If you dont like what your club does and you dont care to get involved, then there is something wrong. Get involved and find out whats going on. The sport / hobby of model aviation has changed and will contiue to change, hopefully we all help it to change in a direction that we all like. Thats why we in our club have made changes and as I said earlier those changes have been for the better and we have seen growth while other clubs around us have been in decline.
The AMA wont bring everyone into the fold and thats fine. Those who choose not to belong for whatever reason will benefit directly from those of us who do belong and continue support the AMA in all of the issues they represent us on. I have been a member for 22 years. I know there are guys who have been members for much longer than that. If you dont understand there are issues out there then I guess you wouldnt want to belong.
