Default RE: CMP C-160 Transall Electric Conversion

ORIGINAL: opjose

It's easy to do the math...

11.1v x 20A = 222 watts at max throttle.

222 x 2 = 444 watts for both engines

The stated weight of the plane ( always OPTIMISTIC! ) is 2.6kg, so 3kg is a more realistic weight...

So 3kg = 106oz = 6.625 lbs

444 watts / 6.625 lbs = 68 watts per pound!

This thing will BARELY be able to ROG at MAX throttle....

The plane in the video took off very quickly...

So either they were overheating their ESC's ( and NOT allowing 20-25% overhead as you MUST DO! ), which will end up blowing them, or they mistated the specs in the video...

My figures above are OPTIMISTIC as 3S LiPo packs typically only produce about 10.6v under load.!

Thanks very much again opjose.
So, what do you recommend for the motor for this plane?
They are listed Hyperion HP 2213/16 and I have problem to find them. They are discontinue.
Very appreciate for your feedback.
