I'am guessing its a 600E thing with the soft-start not working as great, and possibly even more on the earlier edition models. Like Ivan said, even my Align 60 amp ESC in the Logo does fine for its soft-start...

I've heard the motors in the Pro model Trex 450 run hot, as I've came across frequently on the Freak.... Just a thought.... Hey, you could get a Scorpion motor maybe and get at least a few flights out of her ?!
