Default RE: Wings Phantom

Ok, Thunderbird 2 to the rescue...LOL

Carlos, the full size Phantom uses a very thin supersonic airfoil at the root (6%) and tip (3%) , NACA 0006.4-64 and NACA 0003-64 mod respectively. You can find a very interesting list of airfoils at http://www.public.iastate.edu/~akmit...foil_usage.htm

The full size one doesn´t have significant washout, but reading the pilot´s stories about them it seemed usual snap out of the sky on tight turns fighting lighter loaded jets like the Mig 17.. so the wing was modified for leading edge slats trying to solve this problem, but the ultimate solution for this was the F-15

As I saw on the Skymaster one, (I am about to maiden it for a Friend, as soon as he finish it) the outer wing panels have a drop in the leading edge slat that works like a washout, althought only in the leading edge.. as the full size one, the outer airfoil is very thin and almost flat.

Maybe also you will find this pics interesting on the A, C, E , J models and the like...
