Default RE: wet sanding

ORIGINAL: pcg33k

Well the wet sanding didn't come out very good I don't know if I was using the wrong grit or sanded to long. I was using 1000 grit and I did it lightly but it seemed to come out like crap. I only did it on the canopy. I guess this is gonna take some practice I patched a hole in the canopy. I didn't like the way it looked I bought it used and the previous owner cut a hole just above the carb to allow air in. Here I go again sanding patching and priming.
1000 grit is fine for color sanding, anything more like 800 or 400 will show some lines in the clear..
are you sanding the color paint or the clear?
In the past I sand only the clear and not the color paint, specialy on metalics
