My vote would be for the Madbull simply because I'm not a mini fan. I did a build up of a Tamiya Madbull a month or so ago. You can check it out below.

+1 My brother had a micro dt. It was fun for a while, but had VERY short radio range and short run times. Right now it just sits of the shelf. In order to make it enjoyable for him, the upgrades would cost at least as much as the truck. With the mad bull, you wouldn't have the crappy RTR electronics and it would go a lot more places. Plus if you'd have the enjoyment of building a Tamiya kit.
