GO FOR IT !! The Wright brothers didn't mess around and they had more than an arf on the line. This was my TF. P-47 kit built, glassed, custom painted, the works flew like a champ right out of the gate.Notice I said ''WAS'' my P-47. Got shot down 2 weeks after the maiden by some mystery signal. I have another one in the box for this winter, trust your skills and go for it. Here are some before and after shots not to scare you or anything, take along a buddy and let them trim it for you while you keep your eyes on the sky. It's a great lookin plane!
There are too many P-47's anyway : ) Seriously, sorry about your loss that was a nice looking plane. Maybe another good candidate for 2.4.
I think the best advise I have heard here is to make sure your engine is running very good especially slow, and to learn how the aircraft handles slow. Most pilots I see land too fast. Especially their warbirds. I just flew an electric version of this aircraft a couple of weeks ago. It ran out of juice very quick so I had to deadstick it down. It handled very well and was very easy to fly.
To throw in my own personal opinion, I would lose the 3 bladed prop. You will get much better performance with the right 2 blade. It may look more scale sitting in the pits, but you cannot tell the difference when the engine is running. There is a reason we use static scale props in competition and then switch them for flight.
