bogger Im not sure about the exhaust gaskets. Are you using the same header with both pipes?
As for the 2 speed. You want to keep the gear ratios the same so the mesh is right. If you spurs are 2 teeth apart then the CB should be too. So 49/47 would be 13/15, 14/16 etc..
