well, in the US there is a company called Forward Air, I think it ships internationally as well, but pickup / dropoff locations are few and far between outside of the US. I know up here in Canada, they exist only in Toronto and Vancouver, which leaves a good 3000 miles in between.

Greyhound bus lines will take an awfully big package, I shipped a BVM F16 with non removable wings on Greyhound from western canada to California.

USPS Air mail will take a much larger package than you might expect, but you will have to pay oversize charges, but this is still one of the most reasonable ways to go. However, don't bother with the website, it won't allow large packages, you have to take it into the post office.

UPS and FedEx are good, and from the US will accept large packages, but they won't always take the same size package back from another country. For example, UPS shipped my Kangaroo here, but when I sold it to a guy in New York UPS said it was to big.

There is also DHL which is pretty good about large packages from my experience.

The main thing to remember, is it's expensive, plain and simple, the average jet with non removable tail will probably cost around $200 to $300 to ship within north america in a crate.
