Mainly they are made for racers for the adjustability. But myself I'd rather spend $45 on an FLM sealed diff so you can tune by different thickness diff fluid. I run one in my Slash and Rustler and they are awesome.

Also I've heard the ball diffs don't hold up very well on brushless power bashing.
