Default RE: Do I need more channels??

Hey DJ,

It's up to you... I believe people have said that the 12Z can "talk to" DG1 and DG2 which are the non-proportional (meaning, they are two postions only .. full travel one way, or full travel the other way) channels in the 6014 Rx (the FS and HS both have them). They are channels 13 and 14. If that's enough, that's the simplest way to go.

You can use the DG channels for functions that don't need endpoint (ATV) adjustments. You can, if you wish, add a device like a matchbox or the futaba equivalent on the output to manually adjust the endpoints.

If you want to use the MPDX-1, it has to be a HS version receiver it is said not to work with the FS. I have not tried it...

What happens is this: you give up channel 11 or 12, your choice, to run the MPDX-1 .. but gain 8 new fully proportional channels which the MPDX-1 puts out for you.

Personally, I would not use the MPDX channels for primary flight controls, but they are great for supporting functions, and have essentially all the functions of the rest of the channels (e.g. ATV, failsafe, speed), just a slower update rate, meaning they respond a little more slowly to control inputs. I have played wih the MPDX quite a bit and it's really quite a nice unit.

I can assist offline if you wish...
