RE: What's the best Brushless motor for Off-road?
Well, having had a VXL esc, which failed and I repaired, then failed again, and a MMM, which failed, and 2 hobbywing escs, neither of which have failed, seems kind of obvious where I would look to doesn't it?
I also live in the UK. Sending stuff to China for repairs is as difficult for me as sending stuff to the US for repairs, not to mention the trade embargoes that we have with the states means I pay a buttload in tax and customs duty to get stuff in to the US and out of the UK, tax which I DON'T pay when it's going into or out of China, Hong Kong, Japan or anywhere else your country owes it's national debt too. The point is, in my personal experience I am far more likely to be sending stuff to the US for repairs.
Besides which, the EZrun 150 is built using the same fets and same number of fets as the MMM, but appears to hold together better and deliver a stronger performance. And if buying an ESC that is $30 cheaper (bearing in mind I live in the UK and the $ is worth roughly nothing means that the difference is actually around 18 quid) than the MMM means I live below the poverty line then fair enough. I shall just have to throw my $1200 GCM chassis on e-bay and hope it makes 30 quid so I can afford dinner and fuel, insurance and tax for my 3 motorbikes and classic car.
