RE: Discontinued .25 FX?
Actually, the AX heavier by 1oz. Practical RPM is 2500-16000 compared o 2500-19000 and the HP rating on the AX is .75@13,500rpm compared to .84@18,000rpm. I dont know how the HP ratings compare at equal RPM, but I can tell you that at our last combat meet someone had the AX and it seemed as competitive as any other plane.
As far as prices, I think they will settle. Here in Canada it has already dropped to $149 from its original $160. Dont know that it will ever drop as low as the FX, but probably within $10-$15.
We are hearing good things about the newer GMS .25 which now comes in a remote needle configuration, claims the same power output as the FX, and weighs about 2.25oz more than the FX. At $63 and engine though, it might be worth a try.
