Default RE: good kit problem.

If you just like to build and don't want a race rig, get something Tamiya. Their kits are a blast to build and parts quality is good as are the instruction manuals. I just built a Kyosho RT5. It is awesome, but pricey. If you really like building and are into scale, check out the Tamiya High Lift. It is pretty sweet. Also pricey, but cool. Check out tamiyausa.com and take a gander at their offerings. If you want a race kit, go Associated, losi, kyosho, hot bodies, durango, Nitro-ofna, mugen, kyosho, jammin, o'donnel, and much more.

Good luck
+1, however Tamiya does make racing RCs as well, the TRF series.
