Of the states I normally go through (GA, AL, TN, KY, IL, MO, IA), I try to avoid Illinois the most. [:'(] It has the worst roads and worst drivers.
What's funny is, some folks here swear that IL drivers are the best around. A former roommate swore by it.
I tend to disagree.
Avoid IL highways south of Chicago (going around the south side of Lake Michigan - I-80/94, through northern Indiana near Gary) at all costs. It's a nice choke point.
