Default RE: Skymaster F-16 1/8 Leading Edge Flaps, Air Brakes and Operating Canopy

ORIGINAL: FalconWings

Guillo, the hingeless surface is built in the molds, can't really be added after market.

Another thing to keep in mind, once you open up the wing for mod work..........God only knows what you will find in there!! I've seen some pics of SM internals and they have no ribs. If this is truly the case and you cut open the Leading Edge, you will need to create a Leading Edge spar that truly conforms to the wing airfoli, else you may affect the flight qualitites.

I don't know man, the LE flaps would look super cool but IMHO, not worth the hassle.
David, you are right. I have one wing that I kept from my first F-16 that I lost last year and it is partially broken and it has no ribs. Just two fibreglass reinforced balsa spars, one close to the middle of the chord and one close to the trailing edge.....Of course I have realized that I need to reinforce the cutted leading edge with two hardwood spanwise spars. My problem now is how to hinge the cutted leading edge to the wing.

Depends on the support I receive for a safe set up, I will continue or I will give up.

Until now, the comments I have received are more warning comments than how to's comments and I really appreciate it......

And I have recieved no answer from Marvin, the guy who owns the Feibao 1/5 F-16 with slats, speed brakes and operating canopy.

Anyway, thanks for yourcomments.........Seems to me that you are worried about my model safety more thanitsscale appearance

Now I need advises besides the leading edge flaps, about installing speed brakes and operating canopy.....
