I wonder if cold climates can make this pooling worse? I know I have measured temps of a running engine. The crankcase runs very cool compared to the top end. I have actually measured temps at the carb base on other engines when running and the temp sometimes will be lower than actual air in temp! Have you ever heard of carburetor icing! It happens on real airplanes...hence the addition of carb heat. Not saying this is the DLE problem. Capt,n
